Senior Banners

Have you been to the arena lately? Notice the banners in the hockey lobby of the 2010-11 Seniors? This has been an idea that has been discussed for the last several years. Thank you to Sue Tholkes for making it happen! I beleive that a new tradition has been started for the players of this association to look forward too.

Reminder to Families

Reminder to all families that sign up sheets for games and concession stand are posted at the arena. There is no “buy out” of hours this year, so please plan ahead to get your family hours completed. The first tournament is set for Jan 7-9.

Update for RAHA

A big thank you to all RAHA membership! We have 100% of players paid in full. Look for details coming soon with payment plan for 2011-12 season that will start as soon as March 1, 2011. We have a lot of new families in the Mite and Mini Mite program and our numbers for the future are looking very good!

Here are a couple of reminders:
There are a few people that have been trained to sharpen skates; there is a list of approved skate sharpeners at the desk of the community center. We hope to have a few set hours for skate sharpening by mid December.

RAHA season passes for immediate family are in the process of being handed out via your team parent manager. The passes allow two non hockey players per family into all varsity games. All current RAHA players of any level do not pay admission charge to any varsity game. Also we allow Redwood Valley Booster club season passes into all varsity games. Keep in mind that ticket sales for varsity games are a large fundraiser for our association. For the 09-10 season $5005 was collected in ticket sales. 07-08 season $7100 was collected in ticket sales. I do not think that we have less attendance at games we just have less people paying admission! The passes are intended for immediate family living in your home, not grandparents or adult siblings! Thank you for keeping this in mind when attending varsity games.

Website Update: The website is in process of being completely updated, please be patient in the process of overhaul. Steve Collins has very graciously agreed to become the new web administrator. Thank you Steve!

Volunteers Needed: Here are a couple of new volunteer opportunities, please step forward if you are interested!

The Chris Ellig Memorial Scholarship Fund is in the beginning stages of development. We need 3-4 people to serve on the committee to establish the rules, procedures for requesting scholarship assistance and setting deadlines. At this time approximately $1000 has already been raised to establish this fund and if we get the committee work done soon we will be in a position to be able to grant scholarships by next season. How have we raised money to establish this fund? A corporate sponsor has already been secured to donate $10 for every home varsity goal scored this year up to a max of $500 and secondly we are selling ads that will be announced at all home varsity games and tournaments. If you know of a business that would be interested in this type of ad please talk to Laura Olson.

RAHA Alumni Association Coordinator: Looking for one or more volunteers to gather contact information for RAHA alumni.

Hockey Day Minnesota is a state wide hockey event coming up in Feb. The state organization is encouraging all hockey associations throughout the state to sponsor a “Try Hockey for Free” event at their local arena. We need a committee of 3-4 people that would be dedicated to getting this event started for RAHA. Please step forward if this is an event you would be willing to help organize and promote in our community! Call Nancy Hansen if you are interested

Board Vacancies: we still have 2 board positions open. Have some ideas? Have a concern? Do you like to voice your opinion and make a difference? Please step forward and fill the board positions. We will most specifically need to fill the Treasurer position ASAP. See Joe Ryan if you are interested.
